Founder and owner of ILS (International Language Services), Suzy Mahugh, was born and raised in Japan. Being immersed in the Japanese culture for 21 years, she became fluent in both Japanese and English before coming to live in the United States. After settling in the Seattle area, Suzy developed a passion for language and identified a specific need for fluent communication when she worked first as an interpreter; and then while managing the interpreting department for one of Seattle’s largest medical facilities. Responding to the call of starting her own service, Suzy established International Language Services in 1999.

After twenty-three years in the industry, Suzy continues to serve people of the Puget Sound providing access to specialists in foreign language interpreting and sign language interpreting. Suzy has made a wide-spread impact in this field and is truly bringing interpreting services to a higher standard. ILS continues to build its reputation by providing excellent service to the Puget Sound area and various local businesses and the medical field.
